Vers le nouveau monde
Julien Proulx, conductor
Jean-Michel Dubé, piano
Our season ends with fireworks with two works created in America by European composers. After the softness of the music of Montreal composer Violet Archer – who was, among others, a pupil of Bartók – Prokofiev's concerto carries us away in an invigorating energy and rhythm. Then, all the power and richness of Dvořák's music are revealed in his symphony with sounds as Slavic as American to conclude this season in an epic and triumphant way.
